    heavy equiptment

do any of you guys clean any heavy equiptment? i've had a couple requests recently, but turned them down. i've never washed any equiptment like that and would have no idea of what to charge. i listed my business on an online directory and have had a couple calls like this. they were also a little further than what i wanted to travel, but i feel like i may need to look into it if the calls keep coming?

I have done some heavy equipment. I charge hourly though with a 3 hour minimum.

ok, that's kind of what i had in mind. i haven't done any in the past mostly because i wasn't setup with heat and water. i originally set my unit up to do strictly residences. last year i added landa skid unit and 275 tank. thanks!

You definitely have to charge by the hour. The first of last week we cleaned 62 pcs. for an auction, some took 15 minutes an some 2 hours. Next month we are scheduled to clean 140 pcs. Not my favorite thing to do but it's one of those things that keeps us busy in the winter. I promise it is one of the dirtiest jobs I've ever had. Even with rain suits, you have to take a shower with gojo.

I'm mainly doing 5-7 axle dump trucks and a few trailers...depending on the fleet size and the condition of the trucks i'm charging 35-55 a truck/trailer..

It is a very dirty job, especially getting close to dished wheels and some of dump bodys...the dirty water comes right back at you, that's where the faceshield comes in handy.

Worst work we have ever done. Especially in the winter, it takes 4x to 8x the time and you are frozen and dirty like you can't believe. Best thing we ever did was stop washing heavy equipment. Just not worth the hassle. the final straw was when the drivers would go mud bogging on purpose to get them good and dirty and then bring them to us and gloat. I thanked the owner for the work and told him what was going on, shook his hand and politely fired him.
