    Redwood House Protected by Lamp Black Kerosene how to remove it

    Hey guys and gals i have a job stripping a Redwood sided house...it has a Lamp black Kerosene sealer on it...so my question is how do i remove this? The product was pt on 20 years ago or so...Would Sodium Hydroxide work? Thanks in advance....Jason Quick's Powerwashing

    I'm assuming that was a kerosene / linseed oil mix? I think the kerosene thins the oil down for deeper penetration but I would think a caustic like the F-18 may work.

    Yep it's Linseed...thats what i was thinking thank you Anyone else have any pointers or things to watch out 4 on this.

    Uh, I doubt very seriously that the black is actual tint color but more than likely organic growth. I'd suggest a caustic/bleach mix or washing with a strong bleach as a second application.

    Naw it's black alright the color is caller Soot i know what mold looks like...i gave it a test run today with bleach and it lightened it up but no it's really the color...not my first rodeo here..its some kind of custom crap his dad made but thank you though..im waiting on some chem from bob should be here in the morning...ill let u know how it goes


    ps i hope you prove me wrong deff be a easier ordeal

    I figured it was a homemade brew so I didn't think there would have been color added. 20 years huh, lasted pretty well.

    Sure did...at first i thought it was just a nasty black moldy house...i sure hope it cleans up nice the home owner is a REAL pita

    A during pic of the soot linseed oil crazy siding job

    Here is a pic of the job i was asking about this stuff was TOUGH to get off the guy was aEngineer and made the crap him self was holding strong at 30 yrs...said it was made to never come off...The home owner was a pita
