And spend more time on the pricing seminar portion of the education. That part some guys sleep through.

Because you sew what your reap, because what goes around comes around, because most people that are highly successful and passionate about what they do like to share. Because no one person knows everything and when you start helping someone you might just learn something yourself. To better the industry as a whole one contractor at a time.

    EDIT
I would also like to add their are far more people that come here learn and never give back, for what ever reasons.

    IMO

I think that as a group, networking with other professionals helps you when your in a bind...needing a hand, some advice etc. I think that the free info and teaching new guys to cut your own throat should stop. Unfortunately, there are a number of people in this industry that "sell" their knowledge and profiteer off of the new guys. Its done on a lot of the boards and through the associations. It is a shame what has become of this business. I see the future of this as bad or worse than the way it is with landscapers in my area.
Directly why?? I would say stupidity, failure to see the bigger picture or simple greed, or a combination thereof...my $0.02.

I help newbies out all the time. The one thing I don't do is give them the whole farm. I tell them to read and then read some more. And always try things on there own home first. Been getting about 2-3 calls a week. It a little bit of a pain.
