Thread: Boots of tennis shoes on a roof?

  1. #21

Re: Boots of tennis shoes on a roof?

Last week I tried the black rubber boots on the roof and I got down and put my tennis shoes back on.

The black rubber boots I use for flatwork were too stiff for walking on slopes and I just felt they were too dangerous to use up on roofs.

I am sure those 6" shoes/boots would be good.

I am sticking to my tennis shoes, they grab the roof good.

I stick with rubber boots. I hated replacing my leather boots ever couple months and tennis shoes soak too much.
Same here! Although after 5-6hrs of doing ground work the rubber boots start to hurt a bit especially on by back and I've had to switch back over to my sneekers. Once the back starts going on a job the rest of the day seems loooong and painful....
Terry, let me know how they work out. I've thought about getting a pair also. JUst not sure how well they would be on tile roofs cause thats alot of what I do. Are they waterproof at all... Ive spent lots of $$$ on waterproof boots only to find that the chems eat up the waterproof---ness (lol) on the material in a heartbeat. Makes me mad!!! And you don't want to see me mad! LOL

I have the felt bottom wadding boots and they work GREAT on the slick rocks in a running river. I'll bet they would be good on a roof..? :-[

I was wearing my tennis shoes for a shingle roof this week and wouldnt you know it I slipped. Caught myself, but the next day my side hurt like hell. I guess I wrenched it as I hit.
I was careless thinking my grip was better with them on.

I wear my Asics Gel tennis shoes, have not slipped yet, excellent grip on both dry and wet asphalt shingles.

Don't care what kinda shoes ya wear on tile roofs, ya gonna slip. At least on most of them. Put some lotion on the bottom of you feet and try to walk on a tile floor... Now imagine a pitch to go along with that... Not a good feeling or a pretty sight when ya fall on ya ARSE! I'm sure Jon will back me up on that one.

Get yourself a pair of sk8r shoes, they may not be your style but they got grip! I have a pair of etnies and they work great. The surface of a skateboard and an asphalt shingle are very similar if you think about it.
