I've been following this alcohol thing for the cider....so add a gallon for a 25 gallon mix and one bottle of dawn? Is that the correct formula then? Some of the amounts have gotten a bit confusing for say a 25 gallon mix.

No, normally we would go lower on the Alcohol.
But his roof has LICHENS on it, a Bitch to remove.
We use more alcohol on really bad tile roofs, and have found it helpful.
Actually, we have been using Ajax lately, the Lemon kind, it smells nice.
The REASON for the Ajax is this - It contains more ethanol then Dawn, but I am confident Dawn will work fine.

Our Beta testers have mostly been using 1 bottle Lemon Ajax and one quart rubbing alcohol per every 25 gallons.
Actually, Joe from AMEN pressure Washing called to tell me it works well.
He told me he was banned from here, but asked me to post it for him.

The Ajax costs a couple dollars, and the alcohol under two dollars a quart at Kmart.
Mix either on the job, and stir well, or on the way TO the job.
The dish soap lubricates roller pumps a bit, according to HYPRO.

Let us know your thought if you try it ?

When I was in flight training, my first instructor told me " There are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there aren't any old bold pilots". I think I'll leave the chemical tinkering to others.

My Sample pack and 10 pounder of simple Cherry just arrived...........I'm smokin!!!!!!

Great, use the Simple Cherry
Just use SOMETHING besides SH and water alone, for BEST looking roofs ?
IF you have a roller pump like the Bleach Bandit, consider adding some SH compatable surfactant ?
Almost ALL Dish Soap contains alcohol !
So, if Alcohol/Chlorine concerns you, leave dish soap alone.
There ARE SH compatable surfactants w/o alcohol you can get.

I'll let you know as soon as it warms up a bit and no rain I'm off to do one and will indeed try it. Thanks

    Re: My first SH roof

I had a similar problem on my first roof, and got a few suggestions that it could have been old bleach from the supplier, a new batch from a new supplier did the trick. Did another roof this past Thursday and it turned out great, 12.5 SH and TSP. Only problem was that I dropped the PVC wand that came with the Delevan kit and it broke... My before and after pictures didn't turn out but it was an amazing difference. Couldn't have done it without you guys!

I like to have 3-4 % hitting the roof.

Give it a nice even cover. Then go back and touch up your tough spots. Let the mix work.

Cold weather seems to slow it down, but it still works as good just not as fast IMO.

Did a monster today and then went and paint prep'd a strip mall. LOL worked from 11 am to 11 pm today.
