Interestingly I just tried a Clorox product to remove heavy soap scum and it works GREAT.  The MSDS lists citric acid as the main ingredient.  Thinking about that, soap is made by emulsifying fat with hydroxide and citric acid would help destroy the bonds.

Might be worth testing.

So some of you do not think that this would pose any harm to the equipment?

This is a drive through car wash, not do it yourself wash bays.

I guess the SH would be rinsed away and not left to sit on the equipment...

Hmmmm....anyone have anything a little more concrete? I'd hate to upset my insurance company :)

If there is no mold or mildew, there is no need for it.

I totally misread this I think, I saw Clorox and assumed there was bleach, am I correct in assuming that there is not? Citric Acid and Bleach cannot be mixed right?

I will see if I can get my hands on some in the AM for him to try out!

In a pinch you can find citric acid in the canning section or dishwasher and coffee maker cleaner sections of your grocery store.  It is used in all of these applications under different names, but it is still listed on the packaging.  Likewise, if you ever need a little powdered lime you can also find it in the canning section.
