I wear hiking boots....the rubber is pliable to stick to rocks, boulders and such. they get good traction and good ankle support on a roof. I have worn sneakers on occasion and they do work well also.

How come nobody skates in the rain? The deck gets slippery, just like a roof. I wear Red Wings, with the gum sole, feet stay dry all day, the best ankle support ( I have weak ankles, twist em all the time) feet don't hurt after a concrete job, and the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are spendy, but with proper care they last a long time. Mine have seen duty since last winter, putting them on tommorow.
