oxalic?
« on: September 06, 2007, 05:01:01 PM »
I don't do alot of rust removal from concrete, but I am looking to upsell on this job. Is oxalic appropriate/safe to use on rocks and this walkway. I know the stain is from the sprinkler system water(hard water). I appreciate your help.

I have noticed that another contractor in my area uses "Rid O Rust" for strong rust areas.  Has anyone used it?  would it be a safer alternative than Oxalic in the beds like that?

Yeah, I would say ox is the chem for the job.
Just hold your breath and spray down wind and you should be OK.

Here are a few before and afters I did on stamped concrete similar to the one you posted.  If you want to use these photos in your upsell let me know and I will email the high res pics to you, so you can print them.

I used Jeff's famous mix at 5lbs per 5er and x-jeted. So if you use a pump up you could use a little under 1 lb per gal.

Thanks David

With out a doubt!!
Whenever I do residential work with acid I rinse.  I wouldn't want this guy's four year old, or his dog tromping through the acid after I leave.  Plus,  you have less chance of doing damage to the lawn if you dilute with the rinse.  If I was doing rust removal in a parking lot, or something like that, over the weekend I wouldn't rinse

Not sure about DSing.  I don't know if you can dilute enough ox in the water to DS.  I'm sure it could work but I think it might be too slow to work.  But I could be wrong.  I have gotten 10 lbs to dilute into a 5er so it might work???
