lime pellet damage
« on: March 25, 2009, 04:22:47 PM »
got to go look at a deck tomorrow apparently made of stone. the homeowner said that it has lime pellet damage and needs to be cleaned. i 'm not sure what i am getting into here but i'll try to post some pics after tomorrow afternoon. i'm looking for a heads up here if anyone has dealt with this before so the homeowner can be impressed with my amazing knowledge of removing this type of stain. and, he also wants to have it sealed. any recommedations on that?

thanks,

rando

Are these stains from fertilizer. If so they are more than likely iron pellet stains and you know what works on that.  :)

Rusty says,,,,Forget the pics. They are from the iron pellets in the fertilizer mix. When these particular pellets get wet they leave a black or rust colored stain. Spray them down with Iron Out and they will go bye , bye.....Rusty --OUT!  :D

There are a zillion different kinds of concrete and paver sealers but the one that seems to be the best is Xylene. All the painters that I deal with down here use it and swear by it. It's a bit costly but it's worth it. I've seen the results. Looks great.

You sure about that name?  Xylene is a solvent used in paint thinners, strippers, etc.  If they do have the same name, anyone looking for it should be sure to get the right one.

I can't find the darn stuff. Just spent 20 min. Tried getting my buddy but he's not answering.  :bash: Maybe I'm spelling it wrong. Try this stuff. I've heard this works good too. http://www.saversystems.com/epoxy_fortified_paver_sealer.php
