Didn't want to spend $300 on a Cox type supply reel.  If I can get 2 seasons out of a $100 300'  supply reel it's a descent investment.

If you can get 10 seasons out of a $300 reel, it's a better investment....  Don't be penny wise and pound foolish..

I need to hold about 300' of supply hose. Any downfalls to a unit like this? I will be using a 230 gal. buffer tank.

I used one of those starting out. It only lasted about 8 months. Trust me, spend the extra for this one. You WONT be disappointed.  Plus - it is on sale!

If you are just doing residential use as short a run as possible. 100' maybe. Hall that hose creates friction lose which cuts down on the water coming to you.

+1.  I carry 150 on reel, and 150 on the trailer.

Tom just curious why so much supply hose?

The average lots around here are 3-5 acres. I've run into a bunch of cases where the HO wanted some far away out building washed. There's lots of fences around here that need cleaning/stripping too.
I can always take 100' off the reel if I need to. Hard to roll up 300' on a 150' reel.

Isn't that a pressure hose reel? Are you using it for supply hose?

PS-I'm going to be using a 230gallon buffer tank, so I doubt hose friction would be a problem. (right?)

I use pressure reels because they last longer. I use 225 tanks with two hoses feeding it and never have enough water. Reduce friction loss wherever you can.

+1 on both counts.

I'm going to be using a 230gallon buffer tank, so I doubt hose friction would be a problem.

Not a problem with starving the pump, but it will reduce your flow rate into the tank.  If you have the tank because you're already needing a buffer, more hose will exacerbate the problem.
