Surface cleaning roofs
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:23:11 PM »
Seems to be working for this fellow.
Personally, myself, it would take focus off of my balance, lugging this on a roof.
But, yet, the tiles seem to be clean, and he looks like he has this down to a (sub ) science.

I have always heard that this application is a no-no. Maybe it is a no-no for asphalt shingles, but is ok for tile... ???

Just for the record, I am not bashing this company either, just in case any of you folks know of this firm.

Pro's of this application????
Con's of this application????

Those tiles appear ( to me) to be satillo tiles due to the big chip out of one in the vid.
It leads me to believe that they are tile.
I have seen alot of the rubber types over in the ship lanes and channels around here.

I would be afraid of getting my spinner arms mangled on the overlays though.
Just my take.

but it does look like it is working for him just fine.

Been there done that on hundreds and hundreds of Tile Roofs until I learned the non Pressure Method of Cleaning them. Some Tile Roofs are easier to run a SC over than others and most always you have to go back over them with a wand to get the lips of the tile and the crowns. It WILL take its toll out on your back muscles. I had to do one this way a couple of months ago because it was cloudy cold, it started raining  and the mix just wouldn't take. My back was killing me cause I wasn't used to it anymore and the Roof wasn't even that big. Here are a couple of Pictures from that Roof.

It looked like it was working good for me. Here in NC I don't see many tile roofs but that looks like it would make cleaning that particular roof alot faster and easier.

Its actually 5 times faster and less abuse on the body if you just treat them Chemically. the only time I will actually Pressure Wash a Tile Roof now is if it's getting re-painted. We have a lot down here that are painted and need a fresh coat every so often. The painters can't always wait for the rain to rinse off the residue and some need prepping to remove loose paint. Here is one we did recently that needs re-painting.
