What's your take on this new rig?
« on: February 11, 2010, 09:58:22 PM »
Looking into doing residential house washing as well as concrete driveways.  This is how I want to start my bus. What do all you pro's that do this for a living think of this trailer set up?  I know I'm gonna need to buy a surface cleaner yet, but would I be happy with this?

Be honest with me...

Thanks.

Cons:
The reels are useless. You need at least 200' of pressure hose on a reel. Two gun systems suck. What can you wash with 4 gpm. It's an open trailer and you live in Canada. Hard to keep from freezing. General pump. You like Gordon. It's not from Bob.

Pros:
It has a Kohler

Gerald,
It's nicer than what I have.  I am still using cold water.  I hope to get a hot water system some time this season or by the start of next season.  For comparison, Bob's comparable unit http://www.pressuretek.com/8gpm35psihot.html is $5,555 (US).  I just bought a 16' trailer brand new for $1400.  That would leave you $2500 to buy a water tank, some hoses, and reels to make your own unit.  I think you could spec out your own, save a little money, and have a better unit.  That being said, it doesn't seem like a bad deal, just not a great deal.
Also, that 12' trailer looks pretty full without any chemicals or a surface cleaner on board.  Unless you are wanting to take those things in and out of your truck all the time.  I think Iwould at least get their 14' for the extra $400 if you are set on going that direction.

Thanks for your opinion.  A few things..I understand I may need additional hose but can't I just add more to the 100' hose?  The ad calls it 8gpm, but I'm not sure what the difference is in a 1 gun system vs a 2 gun system.  Can I not just use 1 gun at 8gpm?  As for the pump, isn't a general pump good?  Many systems use them.  What should I be looking for?  Cat?  The trailer kinda sucks being open like that, but I need to keep the price inline for a start up business.

Oh...Gordon is gonna win the Sprint Cup this year.  I know it's gonna happen, too bad we have to wait till fall to find out.  :P

I appreciate your view.

Thanks Mike.

I can buy this rig and get free delivery, thats the icing on the cake so to say.  Buying from Bob would be my first choice but start piecing everything together and shipping...well it adds up real quick.  Buying a set up like this would sort of simplify things for me.  I just don't know if I'm gonna go with the 12v or 120 burner.  Got more reading to do before I'm gonna know.

Thanks.
Gerald
